The AMA Physician Masterfile is unique among professional databases. It is the trusted source for physician information and the "jugular" of all AMA activities. Information includes all U.S. physicians.
The AMA begins tracking physicians from when they enter medical school, receiving student information from medical schools, residency information from residency program directors, and practice information from over 2,100 different resources including medical organizations, institutions and government agencies. The file includes demographic, educational, and current practice information on over 800,000 active U.S. doctors of medicine (MDs) and doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs) including both AMA members and non-members.

MMS will issue a list rental credit for undeliverables in excess of 1% from such mailings. Guarantee applies only to pieces returned by the United States Postal Service (USPS) due to invalid address that were mailed within one month, and returned to MMS within three months, of invoice date.
